Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy
Soften your defenses and soothe your anxiety so you can allow your deepest heart remember how to flourish and connect. Ketamine Assisted Therapy (KAP) and psychedelic preparation and integration in Cambridge, MA.
what is psychedelic assisted therapy?
Psychedelics help us let go of our habitual and stuck ways, and see the world in a new light.
Psychedelics have typically been given by underground guides that use the ‘inner healing intelligence’ to do the work. We believe many people need more therapeutic direction than this to focus on what is needed and extend the effects beyond a ‘high’.
We have studied with esteemed elders in the over- and under-ground, mainly in the lineage of Ralph Metzner, and have interwoven our therapeutic models (AEDP, EFT, addiction therapies) to leverage the precious period of opening and increased neuroplasticity that psychedelic medicines invite. This process enhances learning and consolidates new ways of being in the World.
Ketamine is currently the only medicine approved for use in mental health treatment but we are trained and poised to offer more as they become legal including psilocybin, MDMA, 5-meo DMT, and ayahuasca. For now, we offer preparation and integration with these and other molecules and sacraments.
We come into the world curious, playful, seeking love and loving. We feel and we act, learning and growing–as all living organisms do.
Sadly, these simple ways of connecting and being can be crushed. Surviving can mean we stifle our souls, learn to comply, and hide our feelings–even from ourselves. Instead of knowing ourselves and others we become rigid, anxious, detached or impulsive.
Psychotherapy and psychiatry can help so many but not all. Defenses can be strong and anxiety overwhelming.
We can lose the imagination of better.
What does Psychedelic Therapy do?
Psychedelics shake it all up, soothing anxiety, blocking defenses so we can get to the roots of the pain, changing our neurobiology and re-working our memory.
While some will say the experiences are the most powerfully spiritual and mystical of their lives, we are interested in where that takes you–how to use this to change everything, rekindling your soul.
At Psych Garden, we offer Ketamine Assisted Therapy (KAP) simply because we know that it works.
KAP is an intensive psychotherapy that gets to core feelings and rewires emotional memories in a way that traditional psychotherapy either fails to do or does at a much slower pace.
Within one session, we can heal the sense of aloneness and dread of decades.
While Ketamine is the most researched psychedelic and is currently the only legally available psychedelic, we are poised and trained to use, other medications including MDMA and psilocybin as they become licensed. For now, we offer preparation and integration for psychedelic experience that people may find in the underground. We will advise and accompany you carefully.

There are other models of ketamine treatment, including IV infusion, which generally do not include sophisticated psychotherapy, and which some people benefit from.
Psych Garden does not work within those models.
how we do kap
All KAP is administered by Mark Green, MD.
Mark uses ketamine, generally in the form of sublingual lozenges and intramuscular injection, to invite a trance or psychedelic state where your psychological defenses are softened and anxiety reduced, allowing for new perspectives of, and increased access to, psychological and emotional material.
This sets the stage for deep, interpersonal psychotherapeutic work that is profoundly healing.
Mark uses ketamine to enhance psychotherapy because though it does have an antidepressant and anti-suicidality effect on its own, research tells us that it is most effective in combination with therapy.

What to Expect from KAP at Psych Garden
Phase One
Preparation Work
Before any medicine is given you will feel respected, clear in intentions, and ready to navigate the journey safely. We work with you in as many sessions as necessary so we know exactly where we want to go with the ketamine session.
Phase Two
Your Medicine Session
Your ketamine session will last at least 2.5/3 hours. We typically use lozenges or intramuscular administration at a dose decided together, based on your goal. Sometimes a low dose is more useful for anxiety and trauma work; sometimes a higher dose is used for psychedelic effect and for depression.
Phase Three
Integration
The revelations you may experience will take several sessions to process. We’ll have an integration session within 24 hours to maximize therapeutic impact and take advantage of the increased neural plasticity triggered by the ketamine. We may choose to do several more psychotherapy sessions to fully metabolize and internalize the pearls from the psychedelic session and plan the next.
Our clients say that KAP has helped them:
Be more in control of their own lives
Feel more self-compassion
Tolerate the hard stuff in life without resorting to avoidance
